Great «not geographers» and their geographical opening

Many discoveries, especially in XIX century, scientists who were not geographers by the trades have made.
For example, Charles Darvin - the biologist, the founder of the evolutionary doctrine, was the round-the-world traveller; besides biological researches he develop geological and geographical researches. He has published «the Diary of researches on natural history and geology...», having devoted to its not less well-known biologist Charles Lajelju «as a recognition of that the main scientific advantages of this diary and other products of the author are obliged by the origin to studying of all known surprising geology Bases ».
Alfred Wallace - the biologist who has independently developed the theory of natural selection, travelled in a tropical zone much and became the author of the multivolume book «Geographical distribution of animals». Great chemist D.I.Mendeleyev travelled across Russia and other countries much; studying atmosphere, rose by a balloon.
To this list it is possible to add Z.Bjuffona, Z.Kjuve's names and others. :ugeek:
