Hello!!! Interesting article, may be someone didn`t read still
50 billion smilies is the concentrated happiness
Diameter of this smilie nearby 100 nanometers- is in one thousand times less diameter of human hair (the image from a site mobilemag.com).
Young researcher-pioneer Paul W.K. Rothemund. Together with colleagues on group he studies DNA and Natural Algorithms Group in the Californian institute of technology (Caltech).
According to the recent publication in magazine Nature, Rothemund names the invention "DNA-origami" ("DNA origami") and can create any two-dimensional figure from molecular chains. This Paul has already proved in practice, showing the world some "artworks".
First of all, it is a map of both Americas on the scale of 1 to 200 billion. All western hemisphere has taken less places, than a bacterium, and 50 billion copies of this map could correspond to one drop of water.
In total Paul`s group has made from tens various forms, including the schematic image of a double spiral, a snowflake, a flower, a five-pointed star and a smilie.
According to researchers, for creation of each form, month of planning and some hours directly on manufacturing is required.

It is necessary to note is not Rothemund has thought up to use DNA for creation of forms. Superiority attribute to Nadrian Seeman from New York University. Other pioneer in the given area considers Erik Winfree in which group works Paul.
"Yes, while it only artworks, - agrees Rothemund, - but we believe, that if we have created from form DNA it will turn out and to make with them something useful. Besides, on a way we learn a lot of new about the structure of DNA".
The scientist hopes, that his method will find application in electronics, medicine and molecular biology.
